Unfolded Objects

The purpose of this project is to teach us how to create flat objects from three dimensional objects. though unfolding these objects it allows us to print them on paper or other materials in which we can then fold to create the 3D objects in real life. By unfolding the objects it allows us to have a better understanding of what individual shapes make up the complex objects. The objects below are mainly random objects that slowly get more and more complex.

Object 1
⇒ The first object is just a basic pyramid. I wanted to start out with a pretty basic shape to get the hang of using the different commands used to unfold the objects.

Object 2
⇒ This object is also simple, i used the Extrudesrf command to create the shape. This object does not have any relation to my ideas for the final it was just another shape that allowed me to get to know the commands better.

Object 3
⇒ Object three was inspired by the mountains. I basically just put random points in varying heights and then connected them in an attempt to make the top look kind of random like mountains.

Object 4
⇒ This object is yet another random set of points that are joined together. I like the randomness of creating these shapes because you don't really know what shape you are going to create. this also makes it a little more challenging to unfold the objects in my opinion.

Object 5
⇒ For this shape I started out with a square base thinking I could loft it into a circle, when I saw the finished shape I realized that the planes would be curved when unfolded. Since I couldn't remember how to turn those planes into flat triangles I just added a triangle to the top instead.

Object 6
⇒ For this shape I also used the Extrudesrf command, I wanted to create my own shape at the base and originally tried to make a star, since that related to one  of my concept ideas for the final, but i didn't like how it looked, so I decided to take away one of the points.

Object 7
⇒ One of my concepts was a music note and since you can't really make an unfolded template of a circle I used a polygon instead. My idea was to turn it on its side and add a staff (another cylinder) on top to create the music notes.

Object 8
⇒ This is yet another random shape that I created, this time I used a polygon base that transferred up to a lopsided triangle.

Object 9
⇒ With this one I was inspired by the shape of a seashell and how it tails off into a smaller shape. Now that I am looking at it though I think that the square at the top should have been smaller to make it look more pointed. My idea was that i would add the point later on and attempt to to curve it but i think that may be too difficult. and on the polygon side I was thinking of possibly having something coming out of it. The only problem with this shape is that some of the sides are curved so i would need to figure out how to fix that.

Object 10
⇒This one was a play on a jewel that is similar to one I have in a ring. This is related to one of my concept ideas for the final project. This is also the one that I ended up putting tabs on so that I can print and fold the template.
